We are excited to invite you to a truly unique and memorable event: Christoph Heuermann is once again celebrating his birthday – continuing his tradition of marking this special occasion in a different country each year.

After last year’s incredible gathering in the Azores, we are heading this time to Lithuania – more specifically, to the charming coastal city of Klaipėda.

This destination holds a personal story for Christoph: several years ago, he traveled here for eye surgery and during his stay, developed a deep appreciation for the country and its people. The experience left a lasting impression on him, inspiring him to share this often-overlooked gem with the Staatenlos community.

Klaipėda offers a unique blend of history, culture, and seaside charm. Located on the Baltic Sea, the city features a picturesque old town with traditional timber-frame buildings, cozy cafés and a relaxed, creative atmosphere. Just a short distance away lies the Curonian Spit, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its vast sand dunes, pristine beaches, and stunning natural landscapes.

Airport

There are direct flights from several European cities to western Lithuania. The nearest airport to Klaipėda is Palanga International Airport (PLQ), located just about 30 km from the city. 

Direct connections are available from cities such as London, Dublin, Copenhagen, Oslo, and Amsterdam, operated by airlines like Ryanair, SAS, and airBaltic. 
Flight times within Europe are typically between 1.5 and 3 hours, depending on your departure city.

Palanga International Airport (PLQ):

Palanga International Airport (PLQ) is located just about 30 km from Klaipėda, making the journey to the city quick and straightforward.

The most convenient option is by taxi or ride-sharing service, with a travel time of approximately 30–40 minutes depending on traffic. Taxis are available directly outside the terminal.

Alternatively, there are regular shuttle buses and public transport connections between the airport and Klaipėda. Buses run several times a day and offer an affordable way to reach the city center in around 40–50 minutes.

Overview

Klaipėda, where we will be staying, is Lithuania’s main port city and the gateway to the Baltic coast. With its charming old town, German-influenced architecture, and relaxed seaside atmosphere, it offers a perfect blend of culture and coastal living.

On Saturday, August 22rd
On this day, we will all go on an excursion together. We will be transported in multiple buses to beautiful viewpoints and activities.

Curonian Spit Experience    

Please meet at 8:45 a.m. in the lobby of the Victoria Hotel.

We will be split into two buses

Both groups will do the same tour, but the activities will take place in a different order and at slightly different times. The two groups will also have lunch at different restaurants in Nida.

During the day, we will visit:
Juodkrantė, including the Hill of Witches
Nida
Boat trip
Grey Dunes

Please make sure to be at the hotel on time at 8:45 a.m. It is really important that everyone is punctual, as we need to catch the ferry and we also have fixed times for the boat trip and lunch.

Price: The costs are included in the participation fee.

1. Klaipėda Old Town Tour  

The city tour will start at 10:15 a.m. at the Victoria Hotel and will last approximately 3 hours.
A visit to the Amber Gallery is also included in the tour.
We will be divided into two groups, and there will be two guides available.

Price: 15 €/ per person

2.Palanga & Baltic Coast Experience 

For everyone who signed up for the Palanga excursion, we will meet at 9:45 a.m. at the Victoria Hotel reception.

During the day, we will travel to Palanga and explore some of its highlights, including the Botanical Park, Palanga Pier and Basanavičius Street. A guided tour and lunch are included.
Afterwards, we will return to Klaipėda, where we will also have a short guided walking tour through the city.

As the Amber Museum in Palanga is closed on Mondays, our local partner has kindly included a visit to the Amber Queen Gallery in Klaipėda free of charge for our group. The excursion will take approximately 6.5–7 hours in total, so we expect to finish at around 4:30 p.m.

10:00 – 10:40 transfer to Palanga
10:40 – 13:20 excursion in Palanga (botanical park, Palanga bridge, Basanavicius street and etc.) 
13:30 – 14:30 Lunch (after lunch short walk to the bus)
14:45 – 15:30 – transfer to Klaipėda
15:30 – 16:30 – Walking excursion in Klaipėda.

3. Cold War Museum Experience
 

09:45 – meeting with a guide in Hotel reception Victoria Hotel. Transfer to musuem
11:15 – 12:15 – Visiting Cold war museum in Plateliai
12:30 – 13:15 – short excursion around Plateliai lake. Transfer to restaurant
14:00 – Lunch;
14:45 – 15:30 – transfer to Klaipėda
15:30 – 16:30 – Walking excursion in Klaipėda.

4. Canoe & Nature Experience 

8:30 a.m. – Meet at the Victoria Hotel
8:45 a.m. Departing Departure from the Victoria Hotel
10:15 a.m. – Start of the kayaking experience at Lake Plateliai
The kayaking activity will last approximately 2.5–3 hours
Around 1:15 p.m. – End of kayaking
Around 2:00 p.m. – Lunch at a traditional Lithuanian restaurant
Afterwards, we will drive back to Klaipėda, which takes approximately 45 minutes

We’ll start our conference day at the Victoria Hotel with a one-hour meditation at 7:45 a.m.


If that’s a little too early for you, no worries — you can also arrive from 8:30 a.m., grab a coffee and get settled before the conference officially starts at 9:00 a.m.


Throughout the day, we’ll be provided with lunch, coffee, and some sweet treats in the afternoon.


The conference will run until 6:00 p.m. After that, the evening is yours to explore Klaipėda on your own and choose a nice place for dinner.
